Boat left moorings at 11-40 pm proceeded to sea to assist trawler on rocks at Stirka head, tried twice to pass tow rope to trawler which was standing by but failed. Meantime the weather became much worse and attempt at towage given up then trawler signalled she was floundering and lifeboat went at once to rescue of crew, nine men were taken aboard and the boat returned to Wick at 5-40 am
