Boat launched in response to Coastguards message, motor boat disabled off Berridale head. Searched vicinity indicated, but found no trace of vessel in distress. Boat returned to Harbour moorings all correct.

NEW DELHI, India - More than 500 people - perhaps 1,000 or more - were killed when a powerful earthquake rumbled through the mountains of Nepal and eastern India before dawn Sunday.

More than 3,000 people were injured in the landslides and floods that followed the quake, which seismologists called the deadliest to strike the Himalayan region since 1950. Niranjan Thapa, Nepal's minister of state for home affairs, said after touring the area that more than 300 had been killed
