Launched midnight for search for steamer reported driving ashore in southerly gale, steamed as far as Clyth Ness and then received message that "Kingsland" was off Duncansby head. We made for their at full speed but found nothing, though searched till about 6 am. Owing to sea in wick bay, proceeded to Scrabster arriving 9:30 am. Left Scrabster for Wick in morning arriving 12:20 pm.
